The Century Council’s Hardcore Drunk Driving Guides for Judges, Prosecutors, and Probation and Parole Professionals |
|
The Century Council is a national, not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking. For more than a decade, The Century Council has established itself as an industry leader in identifying, researching, and creating resources that help criminal justice professionals address the hardcore drunk driving issue in their communities. In this area, their goal is to assist law enforcement, prosecutors, judges, probation and parole, and treatment providers in the swift identification, certain punishment, and effective treatment of hardcore drunk drivers.
Building on the foundation established with its National Hardcore Drunk Driver Project and with guidance provided by a national panel of criminal justice experts, The Century Council created the Judicial Education Project, which promotes a multi-disciplinary, system-wide approach to the hardcore drunk driver issue.
In support of their leadership efforts and our mutual commitment to driving effective programs that address hardcore drunk drivers, AMS is pleased to share The Century Council’s Judicial Education Project resource guides for downloading that were developed for judges, prosecutors, and probation and parole officers.

Blue Star Mothers of America Endorses Justice For Vets and Veterans Treatment Courts |
Blue Star Mothers of America is the latest national Veterans Service Organization to support NADCP’s Justice For Vets and Veterans Treatment Courts. The organization unanimously passed a resolution in support during their 69th National Convention in Washington, DC. The theme of the convention was “The War after War.” Comprised of mothers of current or past military personnel, Blue Star Mothers of America formed in Flint, Michigan on January 22, 1942 and in June of 1960 received its Congressional Charter from the 86th Congress of the United States. Blue Star Mothers of America has thousands of members with over 230 Chapters across the United States. “Our Mothers give perfectly healthy children to the service of our country and often receive back a child who is broken and in great need of care.” said Oklahoma Blue Star Mothers President Cindy Hood at the Convention. “As a Mother of a Marine and a Soldier, I welcome a program where our military children can receive the guidance they need and a treatment plan that can return them to the proud service members they are.”
During the convention, Justice For Vets Director of Development and Outreach Matt Stiner was presented with an award for his service to this nation’s veterans. During the ceremony, Stiner spoke of the support he felt from the Blue Star Mother’s while he was deployed in Iraq. “The mothers and fathers of military personnel bear the burden of our service,” he said. “When our nation goes to war, the Blue Star Mothers are always there to provide unconditional support to our men and women in uniform. The endorsement of this respected organization will not only help current Veterans Treatment Courts, but also the development and implementation of future programs. All Veterans Treatment Courts should contact their local Blue Star Mothers chapter and begin building a relationship.”
